The 68th UN General Assembly declared 2016 the International Year of Pulses, which is great news for all of us wanting to eat healthier and get more nutrition from our diet. Pulses basically refer to things like dried foods such as beans, chickpeas, lentils, and peas. These amazing little guys are packed with proteins and amino acids. You know what the best part is? They’re a great way to get considerable amounts of protein from a plant-based source, which means there’s no guilt, only plenty of energy coming your way.

And for those who are following a vegan, vegetarian or high-protein diet, pulses are a boon. They’re incredibly cheap and whether canned or dried, they’re easy to store as they last for months if stored in a cool, dry place.
