According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates published earlier this week, 14 million more people would not have health insurance in 2018 under the American Health Care Act (AHCA) than under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In 2020, the number of uninsured would be expected to increase to 21 million, and 24 million by 2026.
Dr. Tom Price, Secretary of Health and Human Services, explained in a recent HHS press release that CBO’s numbers “defy logic” and that the analysis did not account for “the regulatory relief HHS can provide and the additional legislative reforms Congress is and will be pursuing.”
