The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) should solve its access-to-care crisis by taking steps to get more physicians to practice in the VA, rather than giving more authority to its advance-practice nurses, the American Medical Association said Tuesday.
“One thing I do think we need to do is make it a more viable choice for doctors to enter practice in the VA system,” said American Academy of Pediatricians delegate Melissa J. Garretson, MD, of Fort Worth, Texas, at the AMA’s annual meeting here.
