With 50 to 100 job offers to choose from, the nation’s future doctors are headed for hospital employment and other locations where they will work for somebody else rather than start their careers as independent physicians.
New research by physician staffing company Merritt Hawkins adds to mounting evidence showing tomorrow’s doctors will be employees rather than independent physicians opening their own practices. Earlier this month, the American Medical Association released a new report showing employed physicians outnumber self-employed physicians for the first time.
