Gen. Gustave Perna, chief operating officer of Operation Warp Speed (OWS), the Trump administration’s effort to speed up COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics, apologized for overestimating the delivery speed on Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine and said he expected distribution of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to proceed smoothly.
“We have already learned a lot of lessons … in the initial rollout,” Perna said Saturday during a press briefing. “I know we’ll learn more this week, but I’m also confident we’ll have the agility to correct ourselves and get things right so that the next time it will go flawlessly.”
