Advanced Cooling Therapy, a firm based in Chicago, Illinois, won FDA clearance for its Esophageal Cooling Device (ECD-02). Like its sibling, the ECD-01, the device is used to cool or warm patients from within, via the esophagus. It is compatible with different external heat exchangers via a different connector.
There are three lumens within the device, two for moving a temperature regulated fluid around, while a third one is used for decompression and drainage.
