The American Medical Informatics Association has released guidance on laboratory interoperability that includes core public policy, principles and positions.
The guidance comes from a November 8 presentation at the National Institutes of Health by Gil Alterovitz, director of the biomedical cybernetics laboratory at Harvard Medical School.
AMIA supports using a wide range of technologies, (e.g., web-based portals, telemedicine, apps and APIs, mobile health, and social media), as well as technology-enabled approaches that encourage patients to review and contribute directly to their record.
