The Trump Administration has not been shy about being critical of drug prices, transparency, and other issues it sees as plaguing the prescription drug market. One can say that this Administration has been more proactive in this area than any other Administration. While from a policy perspective drug price transparency and a better functioning prescription drug market are important, they do not address root causes of rising out-of-pocket costs across all healthcare sectors. The emphasis here should be on the word all as the drivers of out-of-pocket spending are certainly not limited to prescription drugs.
