As of Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. EST, the unofficial COVID-19 toll in the U.S. stood at 29,549,554 cases and 536,922 deaths — up 53,647 and 1,261, respectively, over the previous 24 hours.

More than 72 million people in the U.S. have received at least their first dose of COVID vaccine and 39 million are fully vaccinated, according to the latest CDC data.

The White House expects a record 22 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to be distributed in the next week. (Boston Globe)

Sweden and Latvia joined the list of countries pausing their AstraZeneca vaccine rollout over blood clot concerns, while the European Medicines Agency head said the benefits of the vaccine “continued to outweigh the risks.” (CNBC)
