The emergence and rapid spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has triggered the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. To date, over 118 million cases have been confirmed, and over 2.6 million have lost their lives.
