U.S. Labs Get Poor Grade on Cardiac Perfusion Test Radiation (CME/CE)

Most American laboratories are doing myocardial perfusion imaging in ways that expose patients to substantially more radiation than necessary, an international agency study showed.

Only 14% of U.S. facilities met the quality benchmark of exposing patients to a median of no more than 9 mSv for the procedure, as recommended by guidelines, compared with 32.6% of facilities in 64 other countries.
