Researchers at North Carolina State University (NC State University) have developed a new technology to control powered, prosthetic wrists and hands by decoding neuromuscular signals.

The technique is based on computer models designed to closely imitate the working of natural structures present in forearm, wrist and hand.

Existing prosthetics use machine learning to generate pattern recognition for control and are said to involve lengthy training processes in order to ‘teach’ specific muscle activities and translate them into commands.
